Il Fornaio
So, the St. Ali behemoth is at again. This time, they’ve taken over Il Fornaio on Acland St in St. Kilda. Sure, they put some great coffee on and maintained the great minimalist interior. But then they had to go and get the best pastry chef in the country to (wo)man the ovens.
Phillipa Sibley was Chef of the Year and an absolute pastry Jedi. The food line up here is exceptional, any time of day, have in or take away. But the specially designed dessert bar menu matched to premium St. Ali grind is something to behold.
If you don’t live anywhere near St. Kilda, this is certainly one of those destination cafes, worth jumping a tram or the car to get to. The Snickers cake is the bomb, mouth orgasms abound!
